A CIVIL ENGINEER is continuing his advocacy for rainwater harvesting in Barbados.
Senior principal of Stantec Andrew Hutchinson enlisted the support of members of the Rotary Club of Barbados West to get people to see the economic use of rainwater, when he addressed their dinner meeting at Bagatelle Great House, St Thomas yesterday.
Hutchinson argued that the authorities are failing to tap into the average 549 million cubic metres of rainfall on an annual basis in a major way, and that there is no reason why it cannot be done.
He said 50 per cent of the water used in homes, which account for laundry and flushing of toilets, can come from rainwater. (YB)
