21 injured as two minibuses collide

POLICE ARE CONDUCTING investigations into a mass casualty accident which left 21 people injured.

It occurred around 4:05 p.m today along Gibbs Road, St Peter and involved two minibuses. Minibus B58 was driven by Rueben Beckles, 32, of Well Gap, Cave Hill, St Michael while  B75 was driven by Corey Pilgrim, 34, of Montrose,  Christ Church.

Nine passengers onboard B58 and 12 passengers on B75 complained of various injuries including pain to the back, neck, face and forehead.

One person was taken to Sandy Crest Medical Centre by private vehicle while the others were treated at the scene.

The mass casualty response included four doctors and three ambulances. Two fire tenders also responded with one station officer and eight fire officers under the command of divisional officer Errol Gaskin. (PR/NB)
