CHRIST CHURCH Foundation School has once again been thrown into mourning after one of its own collapsed and died this morning.

Ermaline Powlett, 74, was setting up her tray around 6:50 a.m. when she complained of not feeling well.

When NATION ONLINE visited the Church Hill School today a number of students were gathered at the spot where she used to sell with Wilcena, her younger sister.

Wilcena was distraught, but described her sister as quiet and easy going over the years. She vowed to carry on the family business.

A staff member who did not want to be identified, said Powlett was involved in vending for as long as he could remember and she had been there for “donkey years”.

“Man she was here real long you know. Quiet too,” he said.

Last November, 17-year-old student Simeon Morris drowned at Silver Sands beach in Christ Church and one of the groundsmen, who was affectionately known as “Pablo”, also passed away. (MR)
