CHRISTMAS AND the New Year are usually a time of celebration for most, but for the McIntosh family the period now represents one of tragedy.
Last Saturday night, the family suffered the loss of 50-year-old Roger McIntosh, of Drax Hall, St George, as he collapsed and died while waiting at the Bydes Mill bus stop.
This was not the first time the family was hit by the sudden death of a member around the Yuletide season, as one of Roger’s siblings told the DAILY NATION they lost both their mother and one of their brothers around two years ago.
“Saturday night he was on his way to work and we understand that the people that came up in the bus saw him and called my sister and said they saw him collapse,” said the woman, who did not want to be identified.
“When the other siblings got down there, they saw him dead,” she added.
Surprise
His sister said that the prison officer never displayed any signs of illness in the past and so his passing came as a complete surprise.
“We really don’t know what happened but we have to wait on the autopsy. He wasn’t sick or anything. I talked to him Friday morning and he was all good and normal and everything.
“We are just keeping it at a level because we lost our mother two years ago, we lost our brother two years ago and now Roger. My mother died December 11, and then my brother died December 30 that same month. We have to see if it’s something that runs in the family, and I guess the autopsy would tell us,” she added. (AD)
