THE GIGS for a number of Bajan entertainers have not stopped as they reap the spin-off benefits from Crop Over, which ended five months ago.
For veteran entertainer Biggie Irie, the upshot is that he has been constantly on the move, having made several overseas appearances, some linked to celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of Barbados’ Independence that helped to provide bonus paydays for some local artistes.
“I haven’t rested as yet,” he said. “I’m still going because even after Crop Over I did shows in New York, Philadelphia, New Jersey, Manhattan, and then when Independence came around, societies in the United States were paying tribute to the 50th anniversary and I was a part of those as well.”
Singer/songwriter Damien Hypasounds Etienne has also been very active. During 2016 the Sugar Rush singer was on his Hypasounds X Tour. (TSG)
