BSTU sends warning to ministry

WE ARE ON to you!

That seems to be the message beingsent to the Ministry of Education by the Barbados Secondary Teachers’ Union (BSTU), in relation to the handling of the environmental issues at the Combermere School, which have seen students in the first through fourth forms out of school since November.

Earlier this week union president, Mary Redman, demanded a meeting with the ministry about the issues affecting her members, but yesterday she was up in arms at the fact that the meeting was called for today – the last day of the Christmas holiday.

Redman is also perturbed that acting Minister of Education Senator Harry Husbands had chosen to meet with parents hours ahead of the scheduled 3 p.m. meeting with the union. (YB)
