MTW patch job ‘not enough’

THE MINISTRY OF Transport and Works (MTW) may have patched the wounds, but its recent quick-work is expected to leave some scars.

This was the opinion of president of the Barbados Road Safety Association (BRSA), Sharmaine Roland-Bowen, who said that the patch jobs the MTW performed on several potholes across Barbados yesterday was not enough.

The MTW’s work came ahead of the BRSA’s attempt to put down markers to warn motorists about potholes they were approaching.

The plan included pounding makers with a fluorescent base and a yellow flag into the ground — 40 feet ahead of the danger on roads where the speed limited was 60 kilometres per hour, and 60 feet ahead of those where the limit was 80 kph. (TSG)
