Children save house from fire

AMAL WARD, 13, is being hailed as a hero by the Barbados Fire Service, his mother Kim Ward, family and neighbours.

When a fire started at the back of his home at Friendship Terrace, Green Hill, St Michael, just before 4 p.m. yesterday, rather than panic, he swiftly jumped into action and put the fire out.

“When I went around the corner of the house, the fire was right there and I had to back-back. I eased through the space and went for a bucket and start to out the fire but then I had to run by a neighbour and get a hose and out the fire,” he said, adding that he was not scared but felt bad that he could have lost his home.
