TRAINER Victor Cheeseman has secured a beaver-trick of titles.

The 56-year-old of Paddock Road, St Michael, easily dispelled any myth surrounding a possible championship upset on the opening day of the Barbados Turf Club’s final season – Ansa Mcal Racing Festival Raceday – on November 19 when he captured two of the day’s three featured purses.

Aysha Syndicate’s Just A Fashion dominated his peers when taking the $93.225 Grade I Ansa Mcal Barbados Stakes And Trophy over 1 570 metres – a result that still hangs in the balance after an objection was lodged against the winner alleging he wore a tongue tie that was not declared.

Whichever way that decision goes, it won’t change the championship outcome, which sees Cheeseman joining Bill Marshall as the only trainers to win four consecutive titles. (LY)
