DEAR CHRISTINE, I am a young woman of 22 years and was really involved intimately with two guys. Let’s call them A and B.
A used to live in my district and had a good job. I used to visit his home and he would visit my home as well.
We were together for three years until he met a well-known girl who used to visit the district. He would tell me not to worry but I became heartbroken and we split.
While going through my sorrow and grief over A, I met B. I told him I was not interested in another boyfriend but after a few months, I got very close to him. He took me to his home and I took him home to my parents.
Now Christine, B has no time for me. He has a woman pregnant. He has asked me to forgive him. When we first met he told me did not have a steady girl, but later I found out he had two of them pregnant for him.
In a three-week vacation I only saw him three times. Don’t you think it’s time to split?
– R.T.
Dear R.T.,
Of course it’s time to split. There seems to be nothing in this latest love affair for you unless you have ambitions to help him add to the population of Barbados. I would not recommend that, as I suspect he would be as irresponsible a father as he is a boyfriend.
I sympathise with you over your love affairs. It’s enough to make you lose confidence in love itself. Don’t do that. Just try not to be too eager to believe anyone who says “I love you”.
Words are easy and we all like hearing them said to us, but look for the actions that put real meaning into them – things like trust, tenderness, consideration and companionship.
– CHRISTINE
