Garbage Moving

A CHRISTMAS PILE-UP of garbage is expected to disappear soon when private waste haulers join the state-run Sanitation Service Authority (SSA) in removing the trash.

They did not collect on Christmas Day, explained the waste haulers, because their regular contract was for week days, so several of them were on the job early yesterday to assist the SSA in its holiday garbage collection.

General manager of Garbage Master, Trevor Manning, said that his company had been out on the road from yesterday working the St Peter route.

“We’ve been up and out from this morning early with skips going along the St Peter route, so we’ve done all of our Highway 1 this morning to Speightstown,” he reported. (AD)
