THE NATIONAL ASSISTANCE BOARD(NAB) is advising families to carefully choose the homes they put their loved ones in.
Speaking at the Restoration Ministries International annual Christmas luncheon for the elderly, chairman of the NAB, Senator Reverend Dr David Durant, said elderly abuse was a “real and serious thing” while noting technology advancements have enabled its detection.
“Over the years elderly abuse has increased and technology has helped us to point evidently at it taking place,” he said.
“So now we are not only hearing about it, we are seeing it for ourselves. Senior citizens can rest assured that action would occur immediately when the alarm is raised and they no longer have to be afraid to speak up; we want them to age with dignity and honour.” (SB)
