Nation’s Editor-in-Chief in Israel

EDITOR-IN-CHIEF of the Nation Publishing Company and his counterpart at the Trinidad Express, Omatie Lyder, are now in Israel as part of a delegation of Caribbean journalists exploring the country at the invitation of the Israeli Government.

It was organised by NGO FuenteLatina, a non-profit organisation.

The one-week trip includes visits to the walled city of Old Jerusalem, with all of its history and traditions, familiar to Barbadians through the Holy Bible.

There will also be a visit to the Holocaust Museum, a 44-acre complex dedicated to preserving the memories of six million Jews killed in the Second World War and ensuring that the world never relives such a horror.

The team will also witness Israel’s success in carving out a most productive agricultural sector out of what was essentially desert, its history making developments with water desalination and the generation of water in commercial quantities from chilling air and condensing the water vapour and breakthroughs in health research – particularly in the area of cervical cancer – initiatives that fuelled entrepreneurship and the starting of new businesses.

Visits to some of the tensest and most volatile border areas are also on the agenda. (Barbados Nation)
