A JAMAICAN WOMAN who admitted to bringing cannabis into Barbados in her brassiere was fined $7 500 when she appeared in court.
Police say 35-year-old Shelly Ann Marie McClean arrived in the island on Tuesday and she was stopped and interviewed after clearing immigration.
Suspicions were aroused and she was referred by police to Customs for a search of her luggage and person.
The search revealed four taped packages containing cannabis hidden in her brassiere.
McClean appeared in the District “B” Magistrates’ Court on Thursday and pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation.
She was fined for the offence of importation and convicted, reprimanded and discharged on the other charges.
If the fined is not paid, McClean will have to spend six months in prison. (PR/NB)
