THE BARBADOS LIGHT & Power Company Ltd says it has extra crews on duty today working to quickly restore power to areas suffering outages.
In a statement issued today, BL&P said it was aware that several customers across Barbados were without electricity at some time during the past 24 hours due to the inclement weather.
“Customers in areas of St Thomas, St Joseph and St Andrew were without supply from about 2 p.m. due to a fallen pole at Sturges. Though weather condition did inhibit our work those customers were restored by 9:45 p.m. last night,” communications coordinator Jennifer Blackman said.
A pole also fell at the Crane, St Philip around 12:30 p.m. yesterday, which resulted in an electricity outage for customers in areas of St Philip and Christ Church. They were restored by 3:30 p.m.
Blackman said there are still some customers without supply in Union, Woodbourne and Welches and the company was working towards restoring power to those customers. Customers in Fort George Heights were also without electricity yesterday due to water in the underground cables in that area.
While most customers were restored by 7 p.m., there are still a few customers without supply. Crews are on site and working to restore service there.
BL&P apologised for the inconvenience caused to customers affected by the outages and said it would continue its effort to provide an efficient and reliable service to the Barbados. (PR/NB)
