IT WAS A DAY for Good Samaritans.
As Barbados was drenched on the eve of its 50th birthday, a number of residents helped their brothers and sisters from being overpowered by Mother Nature.
While floodwaters bore down on pedestrians and motorists alike from Holetown, St James, to Bridgetown, St Michael, heroes emerged.
In the Belle, St Michael, Jamaican shop owner Glen Solomon became the instant hero for a mother and her three children, as he and a friend used their muscle and truck to save them from raging waters.
The woman and her children had been stuck in their vehicle after powerful water lifted the car away from the road and pushed it dangerously close to a ridge with a 15-foot drop. (BA)
