HAVANA – Former Cuban president Fidel Castro has died.

Several media houses say current president and brother, Raul Castro, made the announcement early Saturday morning on state television.

Fidel was 90 years old.

He ruled Cuba for almost 50 years after leading a revolution in 1959 that established a communist state on the Caribbean island.

He gave way to his brother in 2008. (Barbados Nation)
