BBA needs $20 000 more for tourney

THE BARBADOS BOXING Association (BBA) has been busy trying to tie the knots on next month’s Caribbean Development Boxing Tournament.

But with roughly two weeks remaining it has been experiencing challenges accumulating the necessary finances.

At a press conference at the National Sports Council on Friday to announce details of the tournament set for December 6 to 10 at the Barbados Beach Club, BBA secretary Kathy Harper-Hall said the budget stood at $207 000 but the association was still out by $20 000.

“We are still out, based on promises and what we have done for ourselves and what the teams will contribute because each country has to give a levy on each participant they bring. Whether they are an official or boxer they have to give US$200. (RG)
