Big four in line for top prize

ONE of road tennis’ “big four” will be collecting $20 000 when the City of Bridgetown Credit Union World Road Tennis Championship climaxes at the Springer Memorial School tonight.

On Friday night the quartet of number one Mark “Venom” Griffith, Julian “Michael Jackson” White, Antonio “Lil Man” Daniel and Curtis Jones reconfirmed their status as perennial semi-finalists by advancing to last night’s eliminations.

Only Jones – who benefited from a howler by the organisers – seemed in danger of losing his customary spot as he was taken to the wire by young Emar Edwards.

Shockingly, Edwards was put to play the first game of the quarter-finals after he and partner Michael “Mikey Jean” Jean had just lost a bruising doubles game to Andy “Black Dog” Richards and Adrian “Dan” Skeete. (KB)
