THE West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) is seeking a 20 per cent slice of Caribbean cricketers’ fees from major Twenty20 leagues around the world.

Claiming that the unavailability the of players compromises the standard of the West Indies team and the overall growth of the game in the region, the WICB has informed some of its top players that no-objection certificates to play in these Twenty20 tournaments will only be granted subject to a charge.

In a letter from WICB chief executive officer Michael Muirhead to Kieron Pollard dated November 3, the Trinidadian all-rounder was told that board was not able to grant his request for a no-objection certificate until it had received feedback from various affected member boards.

The WICB also said it had communicated its stance to all International Cricket Council full members’ chief executive officers and presidents. (HG)
