THE DIABETES ASSOCIATIONS of Barbados and the Barbados Diabetes Foundation hosted their annual 5K Fun Walk and Run yesterday, and it was bigger and better than ever.
With almost triple the number that hit the road last year, 1 800 walkers clad in baby blue took to the road in Warrens, St Michael, to support the fight against diabetes.
“It is all about the awareness of diabetes,” Diabetes Association of Barbados president Noreen Merritt said before the start. “Prevention of developing diabetes, prevention of complications and where there are complications, managing them so one looks at wellness, rather than illness.”
She said November was designated as World Diabetes Month, with the 14th being World Diabetes Day. (AD)
