Bajan back to do mosquito research

BARBADOS IS GETTING help with its mosquito problem through a more scientific approach.

A Barbadian researcher, who has been pursuing his studies at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria and Canada’s McGill University, will be using his expertise to find out more about viruses transmitted by the vector.

Shane Austin, a PhD student, returns to the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies in January to begin his research.

On Friday, he gave a co-lecture at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with Professor Christoph Steininger of the Medical University of Vienna, who is also providing collaborative support. (WILLCOMM)
