ACTING SENIOR YOUTH commissioner in the Ministry of Youth, Charles Griffith, is the Barbados Labour Party candidate for St John to contest the next General Election.

Griffith was declared winner at the St John Primary School earlier tonight with a total of 58 votes. Challengers Keith Rayside tallied 37, while Fabian Dandelion Jones finished with 24.

Griffith led in each of the four boxes, and his supporters started celebrating even before counting of the ballots in the second box was finished.

Earlier today, Hudson Griffith, who had contested the seat in the 2011 by-election on the death of former prime minister David Thompson and again in the 2013 general election, withdrew his nomination.  (YB)
