ANOTHER hotly contested Barbados Labour Party (BLP) nomination battle is in the offing in St James South.
The contest at the West Terrace Primary School tomorrow will pit management consultant and 2013 losing candidate Sandra Husbands (below) against newcomer Dr Ronnie Yearwood, a lawyer, international trade specialist, lecturer and author. 
BLP insiders say Yearwood could replace Husbands as the former senator has seemingly not been able to connect with constituents.
They pointed out that in the 2008 poll, then incumbent Liz Thompson lost to Donville Inniss by 311 votes when there was a swing away from the then ruling BLP. But in the last election in 2013, Inniss was able to stretch that margin to 1 002 votes, though there was a slight swing away from the ruling Democratic Labour Party. (SP)
