MEMBERS of the Berean Bible Church celebrated yesterday in their new building, as the old church in Baxters Road, The City, remains up for sale.

The congregation held their second service in Hothersal Turning, St Michael, and among the worshippers was Governor General Sir Elliott Belgrave.

Reverend Ronald Trotman, in his sermon, spoke of the church’s journey over its 60 years and the step of faith it took to work on the new building. He said when they decided to start construction, they did not have all the finances to complete the job and wondered if it made sense to start and not be able to complete it.

“I could not help but cry just now as I think of the goodness of God in bringing us here today. When we started we had enough money, we were told, for foundation, steel and a roof. One thing entered my mind always – as I drive around Barbados, I see so many unfinished buildings and I said we do not want to start and cannot finish. It is better not to start,” Trotman said.
