A NEW middleweight amateur boxing champion was crowned in the Springer Memorial auditorium on Saturday night.

He’s Cabral Barriteau-Foster who outpointed the very promising Ision Fraser in an extremely close contest for the vacant belt at the annual Carlton Hope/Lionel Hall Memorial Boxing Tournament in front of a big crowd.

The boxers’ common agenda was to win the title to automatically represent Barbados in the Caribbean Development Championships slated for December 6-10 at the Sea Rocks Dome, Maxwell.

Barriteau-Foster had the extra motivation of fighting for his late niece, Shon Hope Barriteau who died of cancer in July. (AT)
