Health service praised

THE PAN AMERICAN Health Organisation’s (PAHO) top brass had nothing but praise for Barbados’ primary health care system, even describing what they observed as “far superior”.

Director of PAHO Dr Carissa Etienne spoke glowingly of local facilities after a tour of the David Thompson Health and Social Services Complex in St John.

“The David Thompson Polyclinic is a very important multi-service clinic and it is the way that we see health development moving – towards building more holistic multi-purpose complexes,” she said. “Persons do not have to go to several places to get service. I really want to congratulate the Government on putting together this service.”

Moreover, she underscored the necessity of investing in and delivering quality primary health care. (MR)
