Big boys march on in Monarchs

THE STATUS QUO REMAINS. The men’s elite road tennis players are into the semi-finals of the Barbados Public Workers’ Cooperative Credit Union’s Monarchs Of The Court competition.

Antoine “Lil Man” Daniel and Julian “Michael Jackson” White duly joined defending champion Mark “Venom” Griffith and Curtis Jones in the last four on Monday night at Wildey.

Daniel was first to do so, but was pushed all the way by the promising Darius Gaskin, before winning in straight sets 21-16, 24-22. Gaskin took a 4-1 lead in the first set and created a buzz among the crowd.

Daniel then got four points off his own serve and looked set to put on his typical master class of aggression and panache. (AT)
