DEAR CHRISTINE: No reasoning with Miss Hot To Trot

Dear Christine,

I HAVE  been trying to talk to my friend but she is not listening. She feels that I don’t want her to get through.

You see, there is a man who works with her who she says she loves. She also feels the man loves her. During the week she hardly has lunch as she and the man go in the back room and have sex.

Two other girls this same man messed around with told her she is just a football. They also said she is like a dog in heat.

I have begged my friend to take a little pride and respect in herself and not cause anyone to say things like that about her. But she does not care.

The funny thing is, Christine, the man does not give her freely. She has to beg him whenever she wants something and whenever he does give her anything, those two girls can throw it back in her face. I told her the man is just using her.

I learnt that the man has a woman in his house living with him. I told her this and she said: “The girl goes and comes by the man.”

That same girl also called and told her that she has no respect for herself. Now my friend says she feels it is me who called the man’s woman and told her about them. I don’t know why she should pick on me when there are two others who throw remarks at her.

If that man had cared for her, he would not relate what happens between them to the other two conveniences.

Somehow I am glad I have lost her friendship. My only regret is now she has been telling my boyfriend things about me that happened long before he and I became friends. But Christine, if she continues with her dirtiness, I will make her life a living hell.

 Dear P,

I hope for your sake that it won’t come to that because I am sure she is just as capable of making your life pretty miserable also.

Your boyfriend would hardly have been a saint before you met him. Your past should not have anything to do with the two of you right now unless he is looking for an excuse.

I think you ought to tell him why she is saying the things she does.

It comes as a result of you trying to help her to see that she is hurting herself by her carefree way of living. She objected to this and because she thought you were the one who notified the girl, she is getting mean and nasty.

You two should just ignore her. In any case, they will probably soon run into trouble with their lunchtime rendezvous.

You have done your best; now have nothing more to say about this situation.

 – CHRISTINE
