Farley dominates as Loopers win

TREVOR FARLEY dismissed the theory that age is a barrier to performance with a commanding performance to lead Fast Loopers to an exciting 3-2 win over Mount Gay Bayswater in the opening round of Premier League table tennis matches at the Table Tennis Centre, Nursery Drive, Saturday night.

Farley defeated national champion Dr Shannon Doughlin to give Fast Loopers a 1-0 lead and later, with the score locked 2-2, came from a game down to beat his brother Kevin Farley to secure the win for the defending champions.

Over the past couple of years there has been pressure on Farley to step away from the competitive arena and focus completely on coaching.

Since the 2014 Commonwealth Games when he performed creditably, he has not been a part of the national team but on Saturday the former Caribbean Champion showed that though in his mid-forties he can still make his presence felt among the best. (PH)
