CHARLES SANDIFORD’S chickens are dying from thirst – and he cannot even get them slaughtered for market first.
He is one of several small farmers dealing with a peculiar situation as a result of the prolonged water scarcity in certain areas of Barbados.
Sandiford’s farm is located in Benn Hill Woods, St Peter. He said his chickens were dying from thirst so the logical choice was to have them slaughtered, except this too was proving to be impossible.
“I got chickens to get slaughter but the fella who supposed to take them is transporting water instead, and he ain’t got time for me. All now my chickens dying,” he said. (CA)
