Facing Matthew without a roof

WITH STRONG winds and rain threatening, Felicia Skeete and her household had been uncomfortable about how their home would fare during the passage of Tropical Storm Matthew on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Felicia shares the home with six relatives including three children. One of her daughters is blind.

Skeete said even though the system was being called an area of disturbed weather, knowing the damage which was caused to the Porey Spring, St Thomas house by a fallen golden apple tree on September 5, she feared further damage.

The tarpaulin which was placed over the roof became loose and Skeete found herself on a ladder in the middle of the storm trying to put it back in place. (LK)
