Warrican the lone addition

IN SPITE of repeated batting and bowling failures in the recent home Test series against India that the regional side lost 2-0, the West Indies selectors have kept faith with the same squad for the upcoming three-match series against Pakistan.

Up to late yesterday, the squad wasn’t officially announced by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) but NATION SPORT understands that Barbados left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican is the lone addition to a relatively inexperienced 15-man touring party.

Warrican and Guyanese leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo are the only two specialist spinners selected and they will be complemented by the useful off-spin of middle order batsman Roston Chase, who scored a century and took a five-wicket haul in only his second Test.

Warrican’s selection means there are five Combermerians in the squad which will be coached by Henderson Springer and Roddy Estwick. The others are Chase, opener Kraigg Brathwaite, wicketkeeper Shane Dowrich and all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite. (EZS)
