Pelican Village tenants paying arrears

THE BARBADOS INVESTMENT AND DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (BIDC) is reporting “a significant turnaround” in the collection of rent arrears owed by tenants of Pelican Village.

Chairman Benson Straker said the agency had so far not pursued threatened court action to collect the outstanding rents, but was instead continuing to work with those shops against which legal action had been contemplated in the past.

“We will continue to work to address it, whilst at the same time continuing to service the needs of our tenants as well. We want to look to see how we can resolve whatever differences there are in terms of their efforts to pay rent. It is a work in progress,” he told the DAILY NATION earlier this week. (GC)
