Tough going in A&E

SHOOTINGS, “GRANNY DUMPING” and people self-diagnosing themselves by using Google are some of the major issues affecting the operations of the Accident & Emergency (A&E) department of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

And while the waiting times are long, the bad reputation that has dogged the department is not deserved, consultant in emergency medicine, Dr Reginald King has argued.

The senior lecturer in Accident and Emergency Medicine at the University of the West Indies gave the opinion Wednesday night during Cave Hill Campus’ ongoing 50th anniversary medical lecture series.

King credited the doctors and nurses in the A&E for doing an outstanding job. (WILLCOMM)
