DO NOT blame me.
Minister of Water Resource Management Dr David Estwick says he cannot be blamed for water woes plaguing some areas of the island but added that he was not about to give any knee-jerk reactions.
He said the issue was being unfairly politicised by Opposition Member of Parliament for St Joseph Dale Marshall, who attended a protest on Wednesday along with about 150 residents of rural areas outside the Barbados Water Authority’s Pine, St Michael office, with some calling for Estwick’s resignation.
“He is blaming, not the people who manage the institution, but the man who sets the policies and the Prime Minister. What am I going to respond to? This is the second march – has that changed the fact that last year we got 31 inches of rain? The average is 55 a year, so therefore the issue is not to make this a political, personal issue, it is to understand the facts and not play politics. Water is not a political issue; it is a life and death issue. (CA)
