A JAMAICAN MAN who pleaded guilty to four drug offences will have to pay the courts $50 000 or spend two years in prison.

Thirty-two-year-old Kenneth Shawn Myers appeared in the District “B” Magistrates Court on Monday charged with possession of cannabis, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation.

He was fined for the offence of importation and convicted, reprimanded and discharged for the other offences.

Myers arrived at the Grantley Adams International Airport last Friday and was interviewed by police after clearing Immigration.

A search of his luggage by Customs officials led to the discovery of five packages wrapped in brown tape, in a false compartment of the suitcase.

Upon examination, some 3.4 kilos of cannabis were found in the packages. It has an estimated street value of $27 200. (PR/NB)
