A NUMBER OF MEASURES are expected to be put in place to continue the fight against the backlog of cases in the courts.
Chief Justice Sir Marston Gibson made the point during his address for the start of the legal year yesterday.
Referring to Singapore’s courts, he said the court once suffered from a huge backlog in the 1990s and set out to “do something about it” by completely computerising the courts, which were now considered e-courts.
Training was provided for judges and clerical staff as a major investment was made in conquering the backlog and putting systems in place to prevent backlog from returning. (TKS)
