AMBULANCES HAVE BEEN barred from exceeding the 80 kilometres per hour (kph) speed limit, causing a serious concern among those who operate the vehicles.
The Emergency Medical Technicians’ (EMT) who say they fear for the lives of patients, have also questioned how such a restriction could be placed on them when other emergency vehicles have no such rule.
They say the device installed on all Government owned emergency vehicles has created a further headache for them since they already face hostility from family members due to the length of time they take to arrive.
“Original complaints were due to the current shortage in ambulances however this has now escalated,” one source close to the situation said. (CA)
