INCLEMENT WEATHER IN St Maarten has affected the fixtures for today’s Under-21 AFNA qualifiers.

Since yesterday the island was monitoring a tropical wave and today an announcement was made that the Government had closed all of their facilities which included the LB Scott Indoor Auditorium.

Barbados was to play St Kitts and Nevis at 6:30 p.m. while another favourite Trinidad and Tobago were to meet lightweights Argentina this morning.

Before the news of postponement was received the Barbados team trained on the scenic beach outside of the plush Simpson Bay Resort where the teams are staying.  That base gives a panoramic view of the bay which turned from a tranquil turquoise to a raging grey.

The driving rain and howling winds have been creating havoc with leaves and branches being strewn across the expanse of the hotel.

The AFNA and local officials are currently meeting to determine how to rearrange the fixtures.  Tomorrow was supposed to be an off day for Barbados. (KB)
