I READ WITH GREAT SADNESS the article on Page 4 of Monday’s edition of the DAILY NATION, and my heart goes out to that young lady. I strongly believe more focus should be made on domestic violence.
I too have a friend that’s right now literally in hiding from a violent and abusive former boyfriend and just don’t know what else to do.
I believe the police are doing their best with the little manpower they have, but more resources are needed to help catch these abusive men.
Can you imagine the mental torture these women go through not knowing if or when they will be attacked? No repeat offender of such a crime should be able to walk away from jail without serving a substantial part of their lives in prison. No woman should be made to live in fear simply because she chooses to end a relationship.
My question to the police, however, is what does it take to put these men’s faces in the press that they can be caught, or is that method reserved for gun-related crimes only.
As for my friend all she can do is remain in hiding until this man is caught. It breaks my heart for what these to women have to endure.
