BARBADOS finished second in the WICB’s Regional Under-15 Championship after convincingly beating Leeward Islands by 100 runs in their final match in Grenada on Wednesday.
The Bajans, who finished with 20.8 points – the same as Guyana – scored 247 for six from their 50 overs and restricted their opponents to 147 at Progress Park.
Barbados took second place ahead of Guyana on account of a higher net run-rate.
It was Barbados’ third successive win this year tournament following earlier victories against Jamaica and Windward Islands.
Barbados’ total was built on half-centuries from Demetrius Richards (76), Seth Agard (63) and Matthew Forde (56).
Agard also emerged as the tournament’s leading batsman with 200 runs.
Trinidad and Tobago, who beat Barbados in the first round, were crowned champions after completing five successive wins. (HG)
