AS THE SUN cleared the horizon on the East Coast of Barbados the vibes were slowly building at this year’s UV Vibes all-inclusive breakfast party.
The event, which has now become a staple for Crop Over, was held at HMBS Pelican Coast Guard base on Spring Garden Highway. The new venue provided ample parking and enough space for patrons to really party.
Keeping it fresh, the theme this year was Frames and patrons took it to heart, coming out in sunglasses of all shapes and sizes.
At the many food stations serving up breakfast of all assortments, the local roast breadfruit was the standout item. Patrons clustered around the Strong Foods tent to get themselves a roast breadfruit bowl with the topping of their choice or just plain butter.
Another highlight was live drumming to compliment the music selections from some of the best DJs on the island, including the in-demand DJ Puffy, Scott La Rock and Mali Fresh and Sheldon Pap and Level Vibes.
Also welcomed were the two large cooling fans keeping the dance floor temperature from boiling over as the sun crept higher into the sky and the Mount Gay bar offered signature cocktails to keep the vibes flowing.
There were also performances from Ramases and Lady Essence, and Bashment Soca king Stiffy Star Quality. (KS)
