Sada Williams pulls up in 200 final

SADA WILLIAMS pulled up in the final of the women’s 200 metres at the IAAF World Under-20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland today.

Williams did not cross the finish line in the event where she expected to win or at least place.

It is not clear if it was cramp or a more serious hamstring injury, but in the bend, where she should have been preparing to accelerate, Williams touched the back of her right leg which was dressed in medical tape.

She attempted to continue the race, but had to abandon.

Bahrain’s Edidiong Odiong was ecstatic at the finish, falling to the track in jubilation after she crossed the finish line in a new national Under-20 record of 22.84 seconds.

Colombia’s Evelyn Rivera took silver in a personal best 23.21 and France’s Estelle Raffai bronze in 23.48 seconds.

Bahamian Jenae Ambrose was fourth in 23.53 seconds. (SAT)
