A KNOCK of 85 by opener Shian Brathwaite was in vain as Barbados suffered a 35-run defeat to champions Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday at Queen’s Park Oval to finish fourth in the West Indies Cricket Board’s Under-17 Tournament.

Brathwaite hit five sixes and three fours in his 126-ball innings as Barbados were bowled out for 203 in 49 overs, chasing Trinidad and Tobago’s total of 238 for five in 50 overs, which was built around Man Of The Match Kristan Kallicharan’s knock of 87 off 141 balls.

Trinidad and Tobago ended on 20.6 points with Guyana (20.3) second, followed by the Windward Islands (14.2), Barbados (14), Jamaica (7.3) and the Leeward Islands (1.4).

Summarised scores:

Trinidad & Tobago 238-5 in 50 overs (Kirstan Kallicharan 87, Matthew Patrick 67, Navin Bidasee 35, Leonardo Julien 21 not out; Jamali Lynch 3-77). Barbados 203 in 49 overs (Shian Brathwaite 85, Kilano Brathwaite 29, Jamali Lynch 25, Joshua Bishop 18, Jadan Jones 12, Jaden Edmund 10; Te-Shawn Alleyne 2-25, Justyn Gangoo 2-26). Trinidad and Tobago won by 35 runs. (EZS)
