Kaiso lovers did not let the rain that had earlier threatened to put a damper on the night stop them from heading to the National Stadium yesterday to see 18 calypsonians do battle at Waterford.

The MQI/Mount Gay Pic-O-De-Crop Semi-Finals got under way without technical glitches in the early part of the night. Up to press time nine of the 18 had sung in the first half and all were in fine voice.

First out was Jamal JSlo Slocombe, followed by Billboard, MRBLOOD, Ah-Dee-Lah, Adonijah, Donella, Julie, TC and Apache.

In response to Donella’s De Vision, the crowd waved hands and flags and gave a standing ovation.

At the end of the night only nine were chosen to join King Classic to vie for the kaiso crown. (TTY)
