New table

AN INTERNAL INVESTIGATION is under way into the matter of the broken operating table at the Queen’s Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).

And in addition to this investigation, the broken piece of equipment, which left gunshot victim Ryan King with soft tissue damage when it collapsed following emergency surgery, is set to be replaced at a cost of US$94 000.

Confirmation of this inquiry came yesterday from communications specialist at the QEH, Julie Carrington, as she issued a statement following King’s revelation.

“The QEH is aware of the incident and has instituted a protocol that mandates the reporting of all incidents to the Clinical Risk Department for an internal investigation,” the press release read. (AD)
