WORKERS OF THE National Housing Corporation (NHC) met with the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) this morning.

NUPW acting assistant general secretary Wayne Walrond said workers’ concerns stemmed from a proposed merger between the NHC, Urban Development Commission and Rural Development Commission.

He said the union received several calls over the last couple of weeks expressing concern about a number of issues which “created uncertainty”.

“There have been talks about a merger with the Urban Development Commission and the Rural Development Commission and it seems as a result of that situation . . . that a lot of matters were held in abeyance that affect staff,” he said.

Walrond said workers have been carrying out duties of people who have retired but they were not being compensated.  (AD)
