AN INSURANCE COMPANY has answered the call for breathalyser testing at Crop Over fetes.
In the last SUNDAY SUN, president of the Barbados Road Safety Association, Sharmaine Roland-Bowen, expressed concern that binge drinkers would be driving from fete to fete and questioned why authorities were dragging its feet on implementing the testing.
However, Consumers’ Guarantee Insurance (CGI) is giving party-goers the opportunity to have their alcohol levels checked through breathalyser tests at various events. Marketing manager Ann Barrow said the initiative was in the works before Roland-Bowen’s call.
“We have been planning this initiative pretty much since the beginning of the year,” she told the DAILY NATION yesterday. (TSG)
