A SLIGHT NAME change has been made to the local based franchise for the Hero Caribbean Premier League.

Tridents Pride of Barbados is the new name for the franchise that was known as Barbados Tridents for the first three years of the tournament.

Team manager Jason Harper confirmed yesterday that the change was made following the purchase of the franchise earlier this year by Indian businessman Vijay Mallya.

It was also announced yesterday during a press briefing at Kensington Oval that Heineken would be the new title sponsor for the Tridents.

“Cricket is an integral part of the DNA of Barbadian culture and boasts a rich history surpassed by none,” said Heineken brand manager, Barbados, Darren Mitchell.

“We at Heineken recognise the importance of cricket to the Barbadian populace and have partnered with the Tridents to contribute to its continued growth.” (HG)
